His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers received Haitham Faisal Al Ghais, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and his accompanying delegation, currently visiting the Sultanate of Oman on 8th December.
The meeting was also presided by Eng. Salim Nassir Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals.
During the meeting, H.H Sayyid Fahd affirmed that Oman appreciates the great role of OPEC in coordinating and unifying the petroleum policies of the member states and determining the best ways to protect their interests.
He emphasized on Oman’s continuous cooperation with OPEC to ensure the success of its efforts to achieve stability in the global oil markets, as Oman contributed significantly to the establishment of the joint alliance between the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its non-member states (OPEC Plus) since 2016.
The meeting highlighted the bilateral cooperation between Oman’s government and OPEC and its combined efforts to ensure a balance in energy supplies to serve the global economy, as well as making decisions to provide adequate means to protect the interests of the organization.
The Secretary General of OPEC accentuated that the Sultanate of Oman, under His Majesty’s leadership, contributes to supporting OPEC’s efforts, as it actively participates in the organization’s meetings as an observer, and strives to coordinate policies related to oil markets, lauding the achievements made by Oman in various fields.
Haitham Faisal Al Ghais highlighted the importance of this visit, which aims at further discuss Oman’s support in OPEC’s vision and goals.
